What to bring: There is no need for any additional documentation to be shown on the day of the ceremony. You are welcome to bring your own sparkling wine, and champagne glasses will then be provided for. If you do not bring your own witnesses, we have a wonderful group of witnesses from the Association of Senior Citizens. They do a fantastic job to make your ceremony a special experience. Their service is included in the price. However, you are more than welcome to show your appreciation with a small gift.
At the day of the registration meeting, you will be told, which door to enter for your ceremony the following day for the City Hall. At the day of the ceremony the registrar will tell you about the ceremony and you will be asked if you wish to confirm the wedding with rings, a kiss, vows or perhaps a mixture of the three. You will stand in front of the registrar while he/she conducts the ceremony. First the protocol will be confirmed, then there is a short text and finally you will be asked if you wish to marry each other. You are required to say “yes” or “I do”, but you will not have to repeat any words. Thereafter both of you and the witnesses must sign the protocol, and the registrar signs the wedding certificates.
You wedding certificates will be given to you together with a small wedding present from the Municipality of Fanø. After the ceremony you will be invited to share glass of port wine or water to celebrate the wedding. Half an hour immediately following your ceremony will be at your disposal, but you are welcome to continue celebrating, and taking pictures outside in front of the registry office.
Our witnesses are happy to take pictures during the ceremony if you bring your own camera. To fully capture memories of your island wedding, you may consider booking our house photographer. This way you also have the chance to have your wedding pictures taken by the sea after the ceremony.
